i'm presently working at SPH, Singapore Press Holdings fro 3 months, as a event and admin assistant. basically, i help out with events that SPH organizers, like seminars, i help with the admin part, doing reports, calling companies etc etc and being down at the event on the day. YA man..sounds pretty cool ya! but hor..i'm in the Chinese Department, where 'my paper', 'lian he zao bao' etc are stationed. I HAD NO IDEA, until today. i was shocked by the red lanterns and weird chinese characters adorning the company. then it struck me that its a Chinese dept. means..i need to type in chinese, and converse to clients in chinese. oh man. but, hope it will be a GREAT experience! its SPH afterall.
moreover, those who have actually entered the company, will know how grand the place is .
IT has a Tennis, Basketball, multipurpose COURTS (PLURAL), a billard and pool room, Gym, Aerobics Room with Aerobics Trainers during lunch and evening, it has its own CAFETERIA, it has numerous PANTRIES, when u see a toilet, u see a pantry, well stocked with fridge ( the domestic type), microwaveS, toaster, vending machine etc, and the toiletS, super super clean, very like the hotels.. I was astounded by the welfare that the company provides its employees with, very very impressive. It is a FAR cry from my previous workplace, also quite reputable .
Well, i may not get a bank job in Raffles Place or Tanjong Pagar, but i'm feeling excited yet scared on this job. It will definitely be an eye opener for me!
