Reading the papers or listening to the news, is not something which i dont look forward to. Just at the front page "XXX company going to axe XXXX employees". NOL singapore largest shipping giant is axing 1000 jobs, more than DBS bank.
its scary, the thought of the same fate onto people close to you, especially our parents. I hava a fear that one day, my dad will return home early, not because of MC but because of retrechment. Yes, its the taboo word esepecially in such bad economic environment.
Who can we blame? but greed. Human greed in both consumers, investors and money lenders led to a whole whirlwind of credit crunch situtation we are now facing. Who can be realy spared from the possibility of being axed, well except its an iron rice bowl job, not explicitly mentioning the few examples.
Currently, the big players are in the move in restructuring process, next up probabily will be the small players. Would US finacial aids to big players like the 3 major car dealers really help? or is it just to stall time? i shall not comment.
Should i count myself ignorant or lucky to be student? Working adults feel the pressure, but not us. We are 'insulated' by such looming current affairs that we unconsciously are been ignorant about it. most of us are not directly in contact with monetary issues, we dont need to worry about food, lodging, paying of bills , unlike our parents. such that we continue spending frivolously and guilty of spending them mindless. Even i am not spared from such mindset.
As for me, no more sprees and mindless buys from TODAY.
